Front Axel

A7 parts are thin on the ground here on the West Coast of Canada but I came across a sound front axel I intend to refurbish for my chummy. It has stops at the ends (tits) to limit the lock. As it is different from that on my chummy I thought I had better check. Anyone know what year it is ? I suspect it is pre girling ~ 1936 has anyone used this axel ? I am tempted to just grind off the stops.

Re: Front Axel

If it's a girling axle it will have 2 extra horrizontal holes. You can safley use this beam on any standard AUSTIN 7,Ian

Re: Front Axel

I'm intended to suggest that there should be some casting numbers and part numbers on the axle (in relief, not stamped in), are these visible?

If these can be found then we can verify when the axle was made, if it has Austin ref. numbers. The pips/tits on the ends sound unlikely, but you never know!
