!932 A7 Paint Colours

I am restoring a 1932 (October) Box Saloon. According to the logbook, the original colours were blue and black. Does anyone have the modern formulae (or RAL Number) for mixing the correct shade of blue? The car was repainted many colours during its life and none of the blue remains.
Are there any paint manufacturers who specialise in this area?
Thanks in advance,
Anthony

Re: !932 A7 Paint Colours

Hi Anthony, is your car an RN de luxe saloon (before chassis number 162600 & fitted with a sunshine roof)? The de luxe RN saloon was available in both Light Royal Blue and Black and Opal Blue and Black. The Light Royal Blue is very dark and seems to be the more common colour(in a photo it can look almost black), I'm not sure of the Opal Blue. A search of the car can sometimes reveal its original colour, the bulkhead behind the dash, behind the patents plate etc. I was given a more modern spec for the Light Royal Blue from someone who has just rebuilt an RN, it is Leichter Paint-Rover Night Watch Blue Part No BLVC805/JPX if it is any use to you.
The correct de luxe RN colour scheme is-the bonnet top, bonnet sides, scuttle top, dashboard, windscreen pillar front and inside faces and below the waist line were blue. All the waist moulding (including that on the bonnet), the windscreen pillar rear and outside faces, the wings and the rest of the body above the waist moulding were black.
If your car is an RP saloon, after chassis number 162600, try Sandy Croall.

Click on the" Gateway "button on front page. scroll down on left side to " colour mixes". go to bottom of page presented and click on "colour mixes"on right side (above bouncy car) might help. also have a navigate around generally for model colours. Mac

Re: !932 A7 Paint Colours

I agree with Dave Mann re. look behind the dash... on my RP I found the original Turquoise on the back of the bulkhead inside the glove box, covered in about 5 layers of black's. The original colour appears to have been possibly 'baked' on, all later colours are post-works spray jobs.

There were other areas with Turquoise as well, but all seemed to have weathered to some degree, that in the glove box was 'bright'.
