Something completely different

Actually the problem refers to my 1928 Austin 12/4, but as I'm in the process of buying an A7 van you may bear with me.
I have just sold my 12/4 but as part of the deal I need to fix an fault. It seems water is weeping from the base of one of the engine side valve covers. It is a tiny amount of water but should'nt be there. Any guesses as to what could be the problem please?

Re: Something completely different

To answer my own question, it seems the most likely cause was due to the water 'pump' gland failing, blowing out coolant over the engine and some of it finding its way into the sidevalve chambers. All fixed now.

Can't wait to get an A7.
