stove enameling colour

I am doing some work under my 34 Austin Ruby and under the black paint that has been painted on a few years ago the colour looks like a creamy white.
Is that the orginal colour for the diff, chassis front axle etc or has it been painted again sometime in its life.

Re: stove enameling colour

Original should be black, some military vehicles have a white diff casing to be seen in the dark. Could this be a military Ruby? Or maybe painted white for the blackout in the 2nd world war.

Re: Re: stove enameling colour

Sorry, what I meant to suggest but made a b*lls up of was that perhaps the axle has been previously fitted to a military Opal, where with the higher ride height the diff would be visible from the rear.
