The floor of my ulster rep is all aluminium. At the rear where it is only held up with brackets from the chassis it has started to split. I am going to replace a section around the mountings.

The question is what thickness of aluminium plate is recommended for the floor here in the boot?

The remaining original bits of floor of my works body are 18 swg. aluminium and are v. fragile,cracked and have been repaired many times. The production cars are steel, I think maybe the same gauge.

I think 18 SWG is 1.25 MM, 16 swg is 1.6 mm.

I have got a piece of 2mm aluminium to replace the piece that has the mounting brackets on which is where it has split.
