Re: threads

Stuart & Pat,

The Cornwall Club site lists it as "special" see http://www.austin7.org/threads.htm.

Tracy Tools www.TracyTools.com lists the die I bought for it under Brass, Cycle & Special.

Stewart, and of course Pat,

I believe that the track rod ends are threaded 3/4" x 20 Cycle thread.

There are two versions of Cycle Engineers Institute thread, CEI and CEI20. The former has varying pitches whilst the later has 20tpi right through the range at all diameters. Our thread is a CEI20.

Dave,

You need to leave off the final stop for this address to work. Well spotted however.

And, yes, Tracey Tools are most helpful.

Now my own slip is showing - no 'e' in Tracy.

Stuart/Pat

Depending on what you are doing a thread file may do?
If just a bit of thread on the end is a bit damaged a thread file will often clean it up OK. Of course if damage is more severe or you are cutting new or more thread then a die is the answer, I have used Tracey tools and can add to the recomendations on this site .
