Swallow

Following on from Bills thread regarding the two bearing crankshaft, would I be correct in assumingb that the A7 Swallow (1931) would also sport this crankshaft. Is there a three bearing alternative or upgrade?

Re: Swallow

Yes, you are right, a 1931 Swallow would have a two-bearing 1 5/16" crank. The three-bearing type was introduced in 1936, and is generally reckoned not to be much of an improvement. The best upgrade is a Phoenix crank. They are fairly expensive but virtually indestructible.

Re: Swallow

Thank you for the info', also if any Austineer has any previous experiences or indeed any pointers on what to look out for when buying would be most appreciated.

Re: Re: Swallow

Can I recommend John Barlow if you are requiring a Phoenix crankshaft, he appears to be the most competitive price wise at the moment.

Re: Re: Re: Swallow

Buy direct from Phoenix

Re: Re: Re: Re: Swallow

Not sure you can. They don't carry much in the way of stock anymore and pretty much everything is now 'to order'

I know, I'm in the queue (but not for a Seven crank and rods).
