Speedex

Hi, Does anybody know anything about the Speedex offered for sale here: http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/classic-car-page.php/carno/21324

Is it worth the money? I am new to Austin Sevens and this looks quite nice.

Re: Speedex

I'm sure the money has been spent and probably that justifies the price, if a Speedex to that exact spec. is your dream.

I think you could get a really nice Ulster replica for less money if that's what you want. I'm pretty sure you could buy a couple of Nippys for the money, or a collective noun of Rubys.

You takes your choice!

Regards, Stuart

Re: Speedex

No!

David

PS: A ring of Rubys?

Re: Speedex

Hi
I recently bought a speedex which can be viewed on the speedex website:-
http://speedexa7.users.btopenworld.com/index.htm
The car was quick, fantastic and had an 1-1/2 pressure fed phoenix but was built and designed for the race track. (which works out expensive).
I paid a third of the asking price of the speedex you are talking about. I sold mine and put the money towards a Chummy which is used every day on our roads and in my opinion gives me, my wife and daughter far more pleasure.
Cheers, hope you find what you are looking for
Neil

Re: Speedex

Andrew,
It looks very nice but that's a serious amount of money. A running Speedex sold for £3250 on Ebay recently which was probably a snip.

If you really want a Speedex I know of a very nice running 750 and a Silverstone for sale, get in touch if you're interested and I'll pass you on.

This looks like a Speedex I didn't know about. Anybody know anything about it, where it came from, who's done the work etc?

Dave

Re: Re: Speedex

A "cluster" of rubies perhaps?

Re: Speedex

I made contact with the seller and the large majority of the work has been done by Roach Engineering?

Re: Re: Speedex

Roach are one of the best bodywork/sheet metal workers around but their prices reflect this.

Re: Re: Speedex

What about a string of Pearls

Re: Re: Re: Speedex

.

A quiver of Arrows?

Re: Speedex

I looked at Roach Manufacturings (not Roach engineering but I think these are the people) website and they seem to do Austin 7 bodys along with other stuff like Auto Unions. The Austin bodys don't seem very expensive and the RTC special looks quite nice. Maybe I should ask them. But thanks for the responses and I suppose that if it has been restored by Roach then I should be ok.
