Coleman's Drive

Nearly through the aforementioned book - quite a read!

It will soon be fifty years (2009) from the start of the adventure - I wonder if anyone is up to repeat the experience? It will obviously be much easier now with the Pan-American Highway, but the cars will be more than twice the age than the orignal attempt.

Does anyone know if John Coleman is still alive? What become of him (short of publishing his book)?

Its a cracking good read and I would recommend the book to any Austin 7 owner/enthusiast!

Re: Coleman's Drive

John is still alive and his car is wonderfully unrestored, here it is at Longleat 05...

A group of A7s drove over the Andes from Argentina into Chile and back in 2005 (the white Cambridge special owned by George Mooney in the background of the third photo is one of the cars who took part), quite an achievement, if you like a copy of the story let me know.

I don't know of any planned trip to retrace John's trip however.

Cheers

What a pleasure to see John Colemans car in such wonderful condition reflecting his epic journey, may it always stay that way.Much more pleasing to the eye than the over restored chocolate box confections we see too often.
