brake levers

my semi girling front brake arms appear to be worn where the ball meets the arm. there does not seem to be a lot of metal between the ball and the arm (ebay item 200185769010 has similar grooves and explains it better than words)
is this how they where or is it exessive wear.

Re: brake levers

Completely worn out and dangerous Im afraid, not sure who stocks new though.

Re: brake levers

Chris - This morning I have changed the levers on my '36 Ruby - like yours the shoulders of the balls were well worn. A quick tip: If the axle is on the car you may not be able to remove the levers as there is not enough room to get them off the brake pivot shaft. I released the track rod and trailing arm which then allows sufficient movement to get them off...

Re: brake levers

thanks for the tip nick. but at the moment the axle is out in bits.requiring full overhaul.cheers chris.

Re: Re: brake levers

I bel;eive that the problem can be caused by some replacement brake cable end caps being the wrong shape and "digging" into this section as described?
