Bacon slicer problem

Hi. This fantastic site helped me get a CAV switch panel for my late '26 Chummy. Now I need to know how to stop a Bacon slicer starter pinion from trying to free-wheel into the flywheel ring gear when driving along. Inside the pinion there is a very small spring loaded pin. Is this supposed to go over a lip on the starter shaft and hold the pinion out of engagement when the starter is not being used? If so it isn't bothering to do that any more! Any ideas? I seem to recall an article called "Everything you wanted to know aboyt bacon slicers but were afraid to ask"

Re: Re: Bacon slicer problem

Brian, thank you very much for your advice. It does appear that the little spring and pin are the reason for the problem, and the site you recommended has a diagram giving the dimensions of both. That's a real help - Thanks again
