Ignition Circuit

I have a 1934 Roadster. When I turn on the ignition and slowly turn over the engine the ammeter moves between o and 9 amps discharge. It should only show a maximum discharge of 1.5 amps. I have tested the ammeter and even replaced it. I have replaced the coil, distibutor, points and condensor. This week I isolated each part of the electrical circuit in an effort to find what is obviously a leak to earth. No luck. If I drive with the lights on at 30mph it shows a 10 amp discharge. I am now at a loss as to what to do. Any hints or advice gratefully accepted.

Re: Ignition Circuit

Hi Eddie,
what does the ammeter show at 30mph, without anything switched on?

Re: Ignition Circuit

Eddie, have you checked the contacts in the regulator box to see if they are opening and closeing correctly.
Jon.
