Hi

Can anyone tell me, please, how the different four speed boxes are usually stamped up?

For example, does 2-SYNC mean synchro on just 3&4, or 2,3&4?

You cannot rely on the markings on the box lids as they are interchangeable.

Just for information 2 Syn means synchro on 2nd as well as 3rd and top. Syn menas synchro on 3rd and top only.

But as I said before you can not tell by the lid. the best way is to remove the lid, remove the gate interlock plate and look to see if there is a synchro cone on 2nd gear. ( there are other differences but this is the easiest to see.
