RN box saloon sunroof seal -Dave Mann

Having just returned from a wet but quite enjoyable Wollaton, I spoke to Dave Mann about a wiper to seal my sunroof and forgot to ask the source of the seal. It really worked well on his 2 cars and so Dave--can you let me know the source of the seal between sliding and fixed parts of the roof please?
regards--John

Re: RN box saloon sunroof seal -Dave Mann

Hi John, I had a look at your sunroof and it is a good example of the failings of the RN sunroof. When the car is parked facing downhill water collects at the front of the rear roof section before it overflows out of the drains at each side under the sliding roof guides. If the headlining is not taut it can contact this standing water and act as a wick to drip down the back of your neck. The immediate solution is always park the car facing up hill. My more permanent solution is to fit a rubber wiper to the rear of the sliding section. It is fitted to the leading edge of the rear cross timber of the sunroof so it is not obvious. The wiper is a piece of rubber strip I bought from a local supplier. I can't remember the size, however in the next few days I will be building up a sunroof for an RN and will note it's size and take photos for you.

thanks Dave--I have some new headlining material and didnt want to fit it till I sorted out the problem. I will look forward to you information.

Re: RN box saloon sunroof seal -Dave Mann

Hi Dave

I am in the process of purchasing a 1933 RP De Luxe
and feel that it may benefit from your sunroof modification as discussed here.

Do you now have more details as you indicated to John and if so may I have a copy for myself ?

If you are able to help, my personal email address is elwood1996@sky.com

I did attempt to send you a private message via the site but for some reason, it would not send.

Many thanks for any help you are able to give.

Paul
