Ruby Special

Terry Smith has just completed a magnificent Austin Seven Ruby Special which appeared for first time on yesterdays PWA7C Staffs/Shrops Group Spring Run. Terry’s workmanship and attention to detail is truly superb and is sure to interest Forum members. I have Terry’s permission to post the following pictures taken yesterday:

Excellent! Our EA7C member ("The Bodger") will be green with envy when he sees another 7 with the BER registration.

Re: Ruby Special

Thats interesting how Terry has mounted the alternator ,I use the same alternator on my RN ,but have mounted it on the other side of the head using the flange on the exhaust manifold as the adjust mounting and the 2 head studs along aside the water take off as the other mounting.

Re: Ruby Special

Nice.

What "Jethro" would say was a "proper job".

Well done. A special that doesn't look like one.

Location: South of France, always.

Re: Ruby Special

Marvellous job, the meticulous attention to detail is indeed superb - craftsmanship at its best, love it.

Re: Ruby Special

Bryan,
Lovely job! Have you any photos of the rear end please?

Re: Ruby Special

It looks fab.

Re: Ruby Special

Dave,

Sorry, no, I do not have any pictures of the rear! I really should have taken more pictures. The back is the most important and does look very pretty and very different! It is sort of boat tail with a sharp centre line and sloping down a bit towards the back. The hood folds down to sit on top and it looks very good. Terry made all thehood and fittings.

Terry is a contributer/user of the Forum and I will Email him and ask if he has more pictures - I'm sure he has.

Bryan.

Thank you Bryan.

Re: Ruby Special

Here are more pictures of Terry Smith’s superb Ruby Special. Please note: the trimming/upholstery is all Terry’s own work! He told me his mother was a dressmaker and he watched her at the machine when he was young and the machine he used for the trimming on the Ruby Special was I believe a standard home sewing machine – wow!

Re: Ruby Special

Bryan,
Thank you. It's an excellent job and the upholstery is very well executed. I wish that my efforts with a sewing machine were half as good.
