Ruby Indicators

Hi,
Please can anyone advise the best type of indicator lamps for a Mk 2 Ruby saloon running on 6v ?

Re: Ruby Indicators

Bruce,

I use Rubbolite orange marker lights like this:

You can get them quite reasonably, this place sells them for just over £10 each but some internet hunting will probably reduce your costs: http://www.trailertek.com/cgi-bin/sh000003.pl?WD=lt148&PN=Sider_Marker_Lights%2ehtml#aLT148

Scroll down until you get to "Rubbolite button side marker Model M50 Ref: LT148"

I use the trafficator switch on the steering wheel (it self-cancels) with either an electronic flasher and 6V LED bulbs or the mechanical (?) type flasher and 6v 21w bulbs - both work well in my experience.

Re: Ruby Indicators

Good evening Ruairidh. Where do you source your 6v electronic flasher unit from please? I'm working on a project which requires an electronic flasher unit to drive a separate relay.

Re: Ruby Indicators

I fitted flashing LED bulbs to my semaphore indicators. They seem to be much less invisible to younger drivers than when fitted with standard bulbs.

David do these flashing LED bulbs remove the need for a flasher unit and when wired into the semafore indicators do they stay up in the horizontal when switched on rather than try and go up and down as the LED bulbs flash.

Re: Ruby Indicators

John, that's correct, you don't need a flasher unit, and the semaphore units don't flap up and down. You just take out the standard bulbs and replace them with the flashing ones.
Here's the website where I found them:
