Re: Don't recognise this head

Hi Hugh,

Looks like a Cambridge Engineering head to me

Regards Jack

Damp Cotswolds this morning, waiting for more of that summer sunshine to show up, please!

Location: Sunny Cotswolds

Re: Don't recognise this head

Thanks Jack. I knew it wouldn't take long. And it looks like a Nippy crankcase, I think..

Location: Cambridge

Re: Don't recognise this head

What an amazing casting with integral water thingie!
Thats a mighty nice package allround...

Re: Don't recognise this head

indeed, some interesting looking bits, not one for the purists, but looks a lot of fun.

Andy

Location: Oxfordshire

Re: Don't recognise this head

The stone guard on the radiator looks like a Nippy or Speedy item.

Location: Wellington NZ

Re: Don't recognise this head

Going by the clutch throwout bearing it has a four speed box as well.

Location: Malvern, Melbourne, Australia.

Re: Don't recognise this head

it looks to me that the halfshaft nuts are very close indeed to the centre of the wheels.

Military axle? Big seven axle?

Re: Don't recognise this head

Quite right Hedd, although we can't see the rear axle it is much wider than standard hence the widened rear wings. Front axle is Ruby type with the heavier radius arms. This is one of the last cars with the three piece bonnet which is correct because we can see the locating tabs on rad shell and scuttle. If it is '27, it must be early that year.

Location: Stretham, Ely.

Re: Don't recognise this head

looks like its been some tool in its day with the Nippy engine etc

much more interesting than a pretend ulster.

1938 axle.

Re: Don't recognise this head

According to Wyatt 3 piece bonnet was introduced in Sept 1926

Re: Don't recognise this head

I think the 4 piece bonnet was introduced in 1926.

Correction that was meant to be 4 piece bonnet Sorry

Re: Don't recognise this head

Looks like an interesting 50s/60/s hot rod,but it looks totally knackered and not a lot of 1927 ish bits there.
Must have lost its original number sometime too.

Re: Don't recognise this head

the loss of the original number really annoys me. I guess the current owner did that and then re-registered it with the BS **** Cars with age related number somehow seem to lose all their 'character'... A nice earner for him though, but clearly he has no soul...
