I've just had the dynamo for my 1929 Special refurbished by "Classic & Vintage Dynamos" (01623 747666). They did a great job and it might be worth enquiring if they can supply springs.

Springs are all sorted, got a set from the brilliant Mr Hughes. They have fitted with a slight modification and work a treat.
Now once all the piece parts are all cleaned up, painted and assembled I should have a nice "light weight" dynamo.

Thanks for the other offers and suggestions. Particularly the dentist tip. As my Dad said there is one next door. I have already blagged a working compressor from them because they were getting an "upgrade".
