bias binding supply for a tonneau edge

My mother has gamely suggested she will make a simple cover for me and said she wants some heavy duty bias binding so the edges can be finished going round corners. I can't find anything in the UK - any one suggest something like this?

I can see that it wouldnt have been done like that in 1930, but someone else must have followed the same path...

Re: bias binding supply for a tonneau edge

The product you suggest Jon is good quality, however on the edge of the tonneau I would think the cloth binding will show dirt and wear.
Woolies in your country have a vinyl carpet binding 38mm part number 246-BLK L 1.75 p/m . 1 pre-folded edge and with care can sew around tight corners. cheers Russell

thanks. will investigate...

Re: bias binding supply for a tonneau edge

Why not find an offcut piece of pvc or other man-made material and cut say 25mm strips, fold and oversew the raw edge of your tonneau cloth. If necessary run a hot blade around the edge of the strip to seal, even better cut the strip neatly with a hot knife.

Most raw edges would have been folded back on themselves and sewn leaving a sealed edge.

Re: bias binding supply for a tonneau edge

I've purchased some of this to bind the edges of my tonneau when I get around to it.

I'll probably glue it on and then sew over.

Not wishing to hijack the thread, I'd like to make a two piece tonneau - does anyone know where I can get a long heavy duty zip? The half would need to zip off completely.

I haven't used these myself but they are quality zips (claim to be used by some of the biggest names in outdoor fashion like Belstaff, Barbour, Berghaus and Hackett)
