Herding behavior is characterized by trying to keep more than one being together, and sometimes nipping at heels. You most likely were not moving fast enough for your pup so he was running circles around you. It's also out of excitement for being outside with you.




The couch is a different story. Your pup is still a bit unsure of his environment and your boyfriend. He wants to be near, but not quite sure enough to join the party!

When I take my Aussie puppy outside to go potty, he will walk circles around me for a while. Is he trying to herd me? Also the other day my boyfriend and i were sitting on the couch, and he was walking circles around it too.
