Aaah! Aren't they cuddly little darlings?
My daughter sent me the photo; she likes a bit of mischief.
It comes because, although my squirrel baffle is very effective in stopping the little ......... from climbing up the pole, they're such resourceful and agile perishers that I've seen two successful attempts by other means.
One darling ran down the lawn and leapt into the air, landing on the upper surface of the baffle. Another - possibly the same one - climbed half-way up a smallish conifer several feet away, turned and leapt from there, again landing above the baffle. I still don't understand how the tiny fronds of the conifer were solid enough to act as a base from which to leap.
This photo shows one in retreat, baffled by the baffle.
