Another little snippet from the Il Piccolo website today.
Bringing books to the people in a double-decker called Denis.
An idea of Sara, a Triestina and Simone from Treviso, both librarians, to bring books to the people of Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia. To do this they decided, eventually, to buy a double-decker Denis bus from Bristol, because they could not get enough books in an ordinary bus. They had to ship the bus from the port of Bristol to the port of Livorno in Itay (which cost them 5000 Euros), then reregister and insure it and then drive it up to Veneto. As the bus is made by Denis and dates back to the 1990s they decided to keep the name of the manufacturer and call it Denis. They are now busy kitting it out. Downstairs for adults, upstairs for children. They say they will eventually, cover all of Northern Italy and, probably, even go as far afield as Sicily.
