Built for the Bristol Steam Navigation Co., she was sold to the Northern Steam Ship Co late in 1969 for use on the bulk grain trade around the NZ coast. Sold back to United Kingdom owners in 1975 and renamed Gorsethorn in 1977.
In 1970 and again in 1974, she traded between NZ and Australia, the only NSS Co ship to do so.
