1 Feb 1963: Sailed for Bluff on her first coastal voyage
20 Dec 1973: Sold to Horizon Maritime (Pty) Ltd., Singapore and renamed Bonawind.
1982: Sold to Concorde Marine Pte Ltd., Singapore and renamed Concorde Angel.
1986: Sold to Mekong Trading S.A., Panama and renamed Mekong Express. Traded between Vietnam and Singapore.
1996: Sold to Juin Hong Shipping Inc., Panama.
12 Jan 2007: Foundered off southern Tien Gang Province, Vietnam.

Awanui spent most of her life under Northern SS ownership trading between Onehunga and South Island ports. In early 1972, she was adapted for use as a grain carrier, trading from South island grain ports (Lyttelton, Timaru, Oamaru, Bluff) and North Island ports (Auckland, Tauranga, Wanganui). Her last cargo was wheat from Bluff (sailed 13 December 1973) to Auckland where she arrived 17 December.
