John Wilson shipped bulk cement from Portland to Auckland and later Tauranga, Gisborne and Napier.
Replaced by the larger Cement King in 1974, she was sold to the Tarakohe Shipping Company and shipped cement from the Golden Bay Cement Company's works at Tarakohe to Wellington, New Plymouth, Wanganui, Raglan and Picton.
John Wilson arrived at Auckland 20 December 1984 and was broken up by Pacific Metal Industries in early 1985.
