Spirit of Canterbury withdrew from her schedule on 19 September 2019, being replaced by Moana Chief. She laid-by at Freyberg Wharf, Auckland 19 - 29 September and was reflagged to Singapore. She then went to anchor in the Hauraki Gulf until 3 October after which she came in to load for a new service acting as a feeder for Maersk Lines from Timaru to Lyttelton and Tauranga.
She sailed from Auckland on her first voyage on 4 October 2019.
Spirit Of Canterbury Maersk charter expired in mid February 2020 and she departed Tauranga on 19 February bound for Townsville (25-27 Feb), arriving in Singapore on 9 March.
To date she has retained her name.
