Re: I want to buy an 82 ft point class!

Let me think... I believe the Point Brown would top out at 26.5 knots.... unless I'm thinking of another boat.

Re: I want to buy an 82 ft point class!

I served in the Pt. Swift 82312 out of Clearwater, Fl 1979-1981as an MK2-1. The 82s were built as 4 different classes A,B,C & D. To my recolection they all carried 1800 gals of fuel. Where they differed was in the amount of water they carried. The A class & I believe the B class all had larger water tanks than the C & D class boats, although I can't recall the exact gals. The original engines in the boats were Cummins VT12-1710Ms, V-12s putting out around 600 hp a piece. over time they were upgraded to produce 900 hp. In the 90s they were re-engined with Caterpillers. Speed would of course vary based on all the above & cleanliness of the hull. I had the SWIFT tuned to run around 22 kts. Although on one trip with the H2O tank pumped dry & sucking fumes in the day tank we hit around 28 kts.
