Clive,

I can't begin to tell you how nice the 47' is compared to the 44'. We recently recieved CG47265 at USCG Sta Duluth, MN. I am looking forward to operate this MLB throughout the rest of my carrer on Lake Superior.

Some of the big differences are speed, horsepower, handling, and rerighting capabilities.

The 47' has a max speed of 25 kts compared to 12 kts of the 44'.

The 47' has two turbo charged-aftercooled Detroit Desiel engines with 435 hp each, compared to 180 hp on the 44'.

The 47' can be easily operated (handled) with just engine commands with no rudder needed. One 'con' of the 47' is it's large sail area. It really keeps you on your toes in high wind situations.

The 47' will right itself in approx. 5 sec compared to 10-15 sec on the 44'.

All in all the 47' is the new computerized brother of the 44'. Most all the operating limits have stayed the same.

Any other questions, feel free to write.

Jeff
