I have my very own 44ft MLB engineer EN3/MKCS William Collette Ret.who has very kindly agreed to help you with your engineering questions.
How much are you willing to pay ? My 44 was purchased as a business venture with profit as the original motive. But as time passed the importance of the MLB's history has given me second thoughts with regards to her future as a mobile home cruising the coastlines. Ideally it should be restored to original condition by someone with an appreciation for her past. If someone was willing to pay me the princely sum of US$65000 and promise a good home.... if no takers, come winter, work will start on the conversion. Ex-CCG Bamfield Original condition, except for removal of wheelhouse roof and mast for highway travel. Engines: Cat 3208s 2000 hours since new Trans: Twin Disc 509 " " " " Hull: Corten in fair shape. Small amount of rust on sheer piping and well deck, easily repaired Electronics: minimal Documented maintenance and all manuals She is lying in heated dry storage at Golden, British Columbia. Having "missed the boat" back in 99, and lost 44306 to Jose Caballero, I'm again thinking I'd like to buy a 44. Anybody want to dump one?
