44377 Coxswain

I was a boat coxswain aboard the 44377 while staioned in Galveston Texas as a Boatswain Mate 2nd Class from 1970-71. Commanding the mighty 377 was a purely pleasurable experience. She was extremely reliable in the densest fog or the highest seas.

Re: 44377 Coxswain

Zena,

Although I do not remember much about you, I do remember your name. I believe we rode together some back then. I was a EN-3 at Base Galveston during that time span. I worked out of the boat house with Chief Hammell and EN-1 Brock. You may remember some of the BM's that I rode with. Bruce Hawkins, Barton and McKinny are just some of the names I can rememeber.

I have located a picture or two of the small boats we used back then, the 44377, 40500, 30583 and 30585. I got a mutual in 72 and went to Mobile to serve on the Blackthorn.

I now work as the Director of Emergency Management and Homeland Security for a small county in Alabama.

Good to know that some of the guys I worked with still remember the "good ole days".

Gods best for you.

Bill
