Barbara, I remember hearing your music when I was a small child, and still like it till this day. I never knew that your great group was originated from Brooklyn, with you being fro Bed Stuy. I goofed! I meant to say below on my post that
it is ashame "Little Boy" DIDN'T become a hit!
Sorry for the typo, however, the record only
entered the Billboard Top 100 at #92 with a
bullet and then it was gone...What happened?
They were playing it on the radio here in
Florida and suddenly stopped.

On a previous post I give the site for a per-
formance of the Crystals on American Band-
stand from January 1964 performing "Little
Boy". The girls are from left to right:
Barbara Alston, Barbara Massey, Dee Dee
Kenniebrew, and, of course, La La Brooks
singing lead.
Barbara Massey was only with the group
for a brief period before she left to
work with Harry Belafonte.
This is when Frances Collins was brought
in.
I love this performance and it is a shame
the record did become a major hit following
the success of " Da Doo Ron Ron " and "Then He
Kissed Me", both which were top ten hits.
I did hear "Litte Boy", however, was a hit
in Japan.

American Bandstand performing "Little Boy".
Unfortunately, they cut the clip when Dick
Clark came over to chat. As best as I remember
he was carrying DeeDee's little poodle.3
