Afghanistan: Forces nab bombers
KABUL, Afghanistan, May 2 (UPI) --
U.S. forces and Afghan national police apprehended three known traffickers of improvised explosive devices. The bomb providers -- captured during a combat operation against the Taliban -- were apprehended about 90 miles south of Kabul in Khost Province, near the eastern Afghan border with Pakistan. Forces detained Haji Nazir, Nazir Khan and another individual, known only as Latif, on Monday, U.S. military officials said in a statement Wednesday. "The information gained from these three individuals will assist us in detaining other key Taliban leaders," said Maj. Christopher Belcher, a Combined Joint Task Force-82 spokesman. "We will continue to pursue and interdict Taliban leaders who threaten the people of Afghanistan."
