Three dead in Idaho church shooting
MOSCOW, Idaho, May 20 (UPI) --
A standoff between police and a suspect in the shootings of three people in Moscow, Idaho, ended Sunday with three dead, one a Moscow police officer. Two bodies were found in the First Presbyterian Church. A gun found with one of the bodies was believed to have been the weapon used to pump about 75 bullets into the Latah County Courthouse late Saturday and early Sunday, police said a news conference outside the church. A Latah County Sheriff's deputy and a civilian were injured in the earlier shootings. Their conditions were not revealed. Before the bodies of the two white males were found, dozens of law enforcement agents had surrounded the church and tried to talk a suspect into surrendering, KXLY-TV, Spokane, Wash., reported. It was unknown if one or both of the men were involved in the shootings. Moscow, about 80 miles south of Spokane, has about 20,000 residents and is home to the University of Idaho.
