Mob trial to detail 1986 killings

CHICAGO, May 21 (UPI) --

Fresh details about a famous mob hit will come to light this week in Chicago in a federal court hearing on the 1986 killings of the Spilotro brothers.

Tony and Michael Spilotro were strangled in the basement of a Bensenville area home in June 1986 after they went there to attend what they thought was a business meeting, The Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Among the attackers waiting for them were several mobsters, now deceased, including top mob boss Sam "Wings" Carlisi, Louie "The Mooch" Eboli, James LaPietra and John Fecarotta.

FBI agents learned the details of the killings from reputed mob hit man Nick Calabrese who is expected to testify as a government witness in a case that involves some of the top mobsters in the Chicago area.

The Spilotro brothers killing was featured in the mob movie "Casino" with Joe Pesci playing Tony "The Ant" Spilotro.
