Seasoned turnip greens are recalled
WASHINGTON, May 21 (UPI) --
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the voluntary recall of Margaret Holmes Seasoned Turnip Greens because of possible contamination. North Carolina Department of Agriculture officials said samples of the product -- produced by McCall Farms of Effingham, S.C. -- were found to contain trace amounts of diesel fuel. The recall affects 27-ounce cans of Margaret Holmes Seasoned Turnip Greens with the product code TURN3 K10GY and a best-by date of November 2009. The recalled product was distributed to retail stores in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Although the level of diesel fuel detected in the product is not deemed a health risk, consumers with the recalled turnip greens are urged to return them for a refund. Consumers with questions can contact the company at 800-277-2012.
