if
it's about Cardiff..
Sport, Entertainment, Transportation, Business,
Development Projects, Leisure, Eating, Drinking,
Nightlife, Shopping, Train Spotting! etc.. then we want it here!
It is dreadful. I don't blame the journalists - there aren't very many of them left. The problem has been profit-driven out-of-town owners who's answer to every problem is to cut costs. Trinity-Mirror have proved to be very poor stewards of what were once pretty good papers.
It's not like there's nothing to write about in Wales if you read blogs like Waleseye and that Jac of the north person ( who is quite anti-cardiff it seems ) then you can see there are plenty of scandalous things to be investigated paticularly cronyism, nepotism and corruption in the third sector and public sector in Wales. But who cares about our money being wasted let's just bang on about 6 weeks of rugby that comes around every year!
I hope the new on-line Daily Wales succeeds and builds a decent readership.
A democratic country with its own elected government needs a more diverse and serious news media than just the regional branch of the British Brainwashing Corporation and a Trinity Mirror comic to keep it in check.
It is no wonder Clown Carwyn and his comrades get such an easy ride and escape any proper scrutiny from the Welsh press when rugby is about the only institution either organisation seem prepared to put any serious resources into and cover with any knowledge and depth.
If Warren Gatland was as inept at his job as Carwyn and co. the rugby obsessed Welsh media would be screaming for his head on a plate.
That new site seems decent for what we are used to, I was very dissapointed when Waleshome went under so it's good to see a new welsh news site appear. The coverage of wales in the media is extradordinarily poor, if you want to read "opinion journalism" or commentary to do with welsh politics you have to rely on blogs of with there on seem to be about 10-15 on the whole of the web!
