chummy 1927 starting dog

Morning all. Does anyone have a spare starting dog? Its the short one.

Location: Devon

Re: chummy 1927 starting dog

Steve confused by 'the short one' the 27 one you need should be 3" long over all and 1 7/8" from the nut were it touches the bearing to the end of the dog. Hope this helps Ian M

Re: chummy 1927 starting dog

If this is a 1927 car it should have a mag engine, which can only have the long dog. I suspect it is a later coil engine (either the engine is incorrect or the car is later than '27) which has the option of two alternative short dogs.

Re: chummy 1927 starting dog

It could have been modded at some time, in fact John Colman's famous Chummy was fitted with a Box dog and a pin fitted to the original starting handle when his pulley collapsed during the trip. Ian M

Re: chummy 1927 starting dog

Thanks all. The thread is 1 and 3/8th length, thickness of nut 1/4 and dog around 5/8th. Looks like someone has tried to build up end by hard welding.
Yes, engine is coil ignition. I was told 1927, do not have much history at present.
