Noticed in this months article on "Babs" in Motorsport that its gearbox used/uses a special oil by Shell that is oil mixed with a soap. when the gearbox is run the soap finds its way to the shaft outputs and seals them without the need for seals.

Perhaps I should be putting some Imperial Leather in my steering box...........?

I suppose that's how detergent oil was invented.
