I have two Austin 7 wheels which belong to my 1931 Saloon, the wheels needs sand blasting and enamelling.
Any recommendations please 30 miles radius or sp from London? What is the cost ?
Many thanks

Les Gammon does this, I believe, for £25 per wheel. He is based in South Birmingham and can be contacted on 01527 730097.

Are you close to E9?
Try Armourtex. Speak to a guy called Steve.
They sand blast and do powder coat.
If you are closer to Tottenham give me a mail.

Sounds a tad pricey Michael, mine were blasted for £15 a wheel, but that was left in bare steel , so no coating included in the price.
I go for soda blasting these days, it's much gentler, but either way, expect to get rattly spokes when all the old paint and crud comes off!
Location: Near Bicester.

Just a few points worth mentioning. If you sandblast you need to paint immediately afterwards otherwise you are very likely to get rust spots coming through. The company I work at used Armourtex for many years and they tend to give a thick powder coat which is then oven baked. You might just want to look at the wheels after blasting in case there are any problems which the paint finish will not mask or that you want to see before they are masked. This might be awkward.
The other company I know in Tottenham also does powder coating but does a very thin coat.
Powder coating is much tougher than cellulose but when applied heavily can look a bit naff.
What do most people use these days?
Sandy,
Gosport - my better half, I won't make the same mistake again, what a nightmare!!
Wheels - I have had mine plastic coated by a close relative for a good number of years now without complaint, check "Cherished Suppliers" for surname connections.
A lot of talk recently about shotblasting and powder coating Austin Seven wheels. I can get a good job done for £25 per wheel delivered/collected in Redditch. Best results are with wheels that are not pitted or corroded. No complaints so far. Takes a couple of weeks. 01527 730097 Les Gammon

Sorry to revive an old post but hopefully it'll help others.
Further to Les Gammon's post above I rang hoping to get some wheels done but he reports he no longer does it as his friendly powder coater has retired.
I've rang round a few people locally but either they want £60 per wheel or don't do it. Any recommendations in the Herefordshire or Gloucestershire areas?

May be a bit too far for you, but can strongly recommend Redditch Shotblasting http://www.redditchshotblasting.co.uk/directions/

Maybe, but look at the date Tony, I posted that comment back in 2013 ! - I believe John Sutton may still have been in business back in 2013, but having not heard mention of him for many years I presumed he'd retired by now and obviously has - Florida eh - nice.
The latest poster 'Mark from Herefordshire' has merely revived a very old post - he's looking for recommendations to grit blast and enamel his wheels in the Herefordshire / Gloucestershire areas for less than £60 per wheel.

No probs Jeff,
Being self employed dates are just a blur to me.
I think it was 2 years ago, I bought John's spares stock out.
There were a lot of tonage to carry down a flight of stairs.
I know it took three trips with the van and trailor.
Good luck to him in the sun.

Sorry for the confusion, I revived it partially to highlight that some of the above suggestions were no longer available, specifically Les Gammon's but yes, John Sutton too, save others looking through old posts and finding the same issues. Secondly I was hoping for more up to date recommendations if anyone had them, I'm happy to try places between Bristol and Birmingham so I'll ring Redditch on Monday. Any more suggestions appreciated.
