Re: Nippy Headlight mounting bracket

Peter Stanley
Hi Ian and Dave

thank you very much for helping me with this. I can go ahead and order up the metal.

Regards Peter

Peter. On my Nippy (a bit of a special) I used cycle wings in the front as the originals were a bit mangled - and heavy! Rather than adapt the original stays/headlight brackets I made new ones to fit. I used the front forks from a bicycle for the main part with plates welded to each end for fixing. This gave a nice curved item which also tapered from radiator to wing and the cross section was oval......all in all a pleasing shape. the electrics were fed from inside the engine bay up through the hollow strut and out of a hole underneath the headlight mount (also a plate welded on) for the headlight and the sidelight wires carried on and out the end of the strut through the wing mounting flange and up to the sidelight.

Recycling at its best
