This is not a moan, rant or anything like that. I believed that there was a new user friendly website in the offing, is it still ongoing or did I dream it ?.

You have lost me Derek, and apparently many others.
If it is some wry comment about this forum, perhaps those who imagine hidden meanings can hazard one.

I am simply asking if there is a more user friendly website planned or did I dream it. Anybody can see that it is a complete pain in the ass to post pictures unless of course you live north of Hadrian wall

See Jason's post - Web and Forum upgrade will start shortly
Perhaps Jason could update us?
(Again, as a non-computer forum specialist I'm extremely grateful for what we have and what others do for us, so please don't think this is a complaint, it's not.)
Thanks Ruairidh, glad to find that I haven't completely lost my marbles

Despite my atrocious memory, I remember the post well, and I volunteered to contribute if necessary.
I see no evidence of "apparently many others being lost" as to what the post was about.

Was the original post.

There was a post, probably within the last 2 years, that stated the site was to have a make over. As far as I'm aware, the person who posted that has achieved nothing. In fact, he hasn't contributed anything for ages, not even an update.
It really needs someone with the IT skills and enthusiasm for the site to take it over and re-vamp it. I'm sure that Mac Bonar, the originator, would greatly approve.
IF I had the necessary knowledge I would offer to do it, Unfortunately I haven't.
Here's a link to Jason's post from June 16th 2016. As far as I'm aware Jason together with Mac Bonar were the joint originators of this site and to the best of my knowledge he (Jason) is still part of the site management / admin team.

It looks like the thread "Photo bucket , revolting " has ended up in the same place as this one. And still we are no wiser.

Am I missing something? - the following statement on the home page surely gives us a clue:
"We apologise in advance for any disturbances on here in the near future due to
website redesign in the background. We'll keep you informed about the progress"

No mention of Forum redesign

The website and the forum are two very different things.
The website is currently a "hand coded" collection of pages loosely held together, and as such is quite easy to update and upgrade, (may take some time to move the content across but that's easy but may be time consuming.)
The forum, (and classifieds) is a piece of third party hosted software that "we" pay to use. (Bravenet, hence the different url) We have no control over it and how it works. For instance there is an overall post limit, once we hit that for every new post made the oldest one gets deleted. I no longer have access to the admin side of things so am not sure if we have reached that limit yet.
The two things operate completely independently of each other, hence why when the "main" web site went down a year or two ago the forum was unaffected.
Various suggestions have been made on to how to move it to a more stable environment where "we" would be in control of the systems and content etc.(And self host images if that's what people want.) The tricky bit is making sure we back everything up and move all the excellent content across to the version before turning off the Bravenet forum.
