Thank you for your thorough account of the history of the Steamer Express. I have adapted it for a forthcoming report on the Future of Seas for the NZDF. We need to know our history to better understand our future. I will ensure your site receives the appropriate credit.

Spent my childhood overlooking Wellington Harbour Entrance. Remember the skows heading over the Strait to South Island. Commenced my apprenticeship in 1961 with Union Steam. The internet and nostalgia have much to answer for!!

I would like to write, but do not have your address. My dad was cook on the Holmglen that sunk in 1959 near Timaru. That place is something that I see on photos, but I wonder about how my dad, Joe Anson, saw it as he sailed past there many times. Seeing photos of the Holmglen is a great comfort to my and my older brother. My younger brother died of lung cancer five years ago. I am trying to get my dad\'s National Insurance Number so that I can apply to the National Archives for his navy history, a part of his life when he was away from us. If anyone knew him, please contact me.

As a brand new cadet reporter for the Northern Advocate in Whangarei, I covered the arrival of the Kuaka at Marsden Pt on her maiden voyage. As a lover of the sea, it was very exciting and I loved climbing on board and having a look around. Just wondered what had happened to her. Now I know. thanks for the great info.T
